Laser etching or engraving is the process of using lasers to engrave or mark an object. The process can be extreamly complicated and technical and often uses computer systems to control the movement of the laser head. Experienced engravers work with the highly specialized equipment to program the design for each product. With this process precise, complex, and very clean engraving can be acomplished quickly.
During laser etching, the laser removes material very cleanly and efficiently. The laser beam is designed to deliver energy to the surface of the material. The surface material is vaporized during laser engraving. Today, laser etching is used on a variety of materials. These "laserable" materials include polymer and novel metal alloys.
